Demented-crats Plan to Force Change in Iraq Policy, Want troops to start coming home immediately
Mood:  don't ask
Topic: Lib Loser Stories
And so it begins, we are about to fail the Iraqi people in a very profound way.

Dems Plan to Force Change in Iraq Policy

Emboldened by their congressional election triumph and Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld's resignation, Democrats say they will use their new clout to force a change in Iraq policy and demand that President Bush start bringing troops home.

Rumsfeld's resignation -- and Bush's pledge to work with Democrats on issues facing the nation -- came after months of the president backing Rumsfeld and insisting the war in Iraq was on track. His arguments lost steam after voters catapulted Democrats to power in Tuesday's voting, giving Democrats control of both the House and Senate next year.

Democrats say they hope election gains would provide momentum for more than the fall of Rumsfeld.

First stop next year will be legislation calling for an undetermined number of troops to come home immediately. Though Democrats are divided over exactly what to propose, they say their effort will send a loud political signal to disgruntled U.S. voters, and to Iraqis to assume more responsibility.

"I believe a number of Republicans will want to join forces here because there's a lot of unease in the country," said Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., in line to head the Senate Armed Services Committee in the new Congress.

That dynamic may be on display even sooner than next year.

Sen. John Warner, R-Va., the current chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, already has planned an Iraq hearing for next week with top military and intelligence officials testifying.

And after Bush surprised virtually the entire capital by announcing Rumsfeld's departure on Wednesday and picking former CIA Director Robert Gates to replace him, Warner said he wants to hold Gates' confirmation hearings this year _ sessions that could become inquiries into almost every aspect of the Iraq war.

Aides say when the new Congress convenes in January, Democrats plan to call for troops to begin coming home from Iraq and to increase money for veterans and training special operations forces. Levin and Rep. Ike Skelton, D-Mo., the next chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, said they also will push for more money to fix damaged military equipment.

Democrats also are awaiting the recommendations of a bipartisan panel led by former Secretary of State James Baker III on Iraq, expected by early January or sooner.

White House counselor Dan Bartlett told NBC's "Today Show" the Bush administration also hopes the commission's report will provide an impetus for "greater consensus" on Iraq policy.

House Democrats say they plan to set up a new committee next year focused on uncovering abuses in defense spending and policies, and possibly an independent commission to investigate waste and fraud associated with the billions of dollars spent to rebuild Iraq. Implementing unfulfilled recommendations by the 9/11 commission -- such as plugging holes in airport security -- is also on their agenda.

"It's going to be hearings, accountability, trying to restore trust so the people understand what the real facts are," said Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., the Marine veteran who last year called for an immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq and helped crystallize congressional opposition to the war.

While majority Democrats will have the power to demand information from the White House and control the federal pursestrings, their constitutional ability to control defense and foreign policy issues will be limited. The president still commands the armed forces and oversees diplomatic dealings with other nations.

Further, even though Democrats will control the Senate, they will do so only by a narrow 51-49 margin. Democrats will lack the two-thirds majorities needed to override presidential vetoes and enact bills the White House might oppose, and the 60 votes needed to prevent Senate Republicans from filibustering legislation.

They also might have to work to keep Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman, the longtime Democrat who won Tuesday as an independent after losing the Democratic primary, on their side.

"They're going to need to do a lot of tap-dancing on Iraq," Darrell West, a political science professor at Brown University, said of Democrats. "They need to bide their time, ask the tough questions and see how this issue plays out over the next year."

Even so, Democrats insisted -- and even Bush conceded -- that the election was about Iraq. The overwhelming sentiment voters showed against the war will put tremendous pressure on Bush and GOP lawmakers to change course in the conflict.

Polls of voters found a strong majority -- about six in 10 -- disapproved of the war in Iraq. About a fourth of those polled said they sided with Democrats on wanting to withdraw some troops from Iraq and another three in 10 said they want all troops withdrawn.

Anger over the war prompted Republicans to lose critical swing voters. Two-thirds of independent voters in the country said they disapproved of the war, with almost half of them strongly disapproving.

Voters' disapproval of the war factored heavily into nearly every tightly contested race, and many Democratic challengers won by identifying a specific timetable on when troops should come home.

In Ohio, Republican Sen. Mike DeWine, who echoed Bush's line that the United States should stay in Iraq until the job was finished, lost to Democratic Rep. Sherrod Brown, who says troops should leave within two years. In Pennsylvania, Democrat Joe Sestak beat 10-term Republican Rep. Curt Weldon after calling for troops to be withdrawn by the end of 2007.

But while setting timetables may have helped Democrats win votes, they may have a tough time pushing their plan through Congress. Democratic incumbents are divided on how soon to pull troops out of Iraq, and the party risks being held responsible by voters in the 2008 presidential elections if an abandoned Iraq collapses into a full-blown civil war.

But the White House says many Democratic critics agree that timetables are risky.

"What we're seeing is even those who are critical of the conduct or the competence of the war in Iraq all understand the consequences ... That is, if we are going to pull out of Iraq before the job is done it's going to make our country less secure," Bartlett said.

Associated Press writers David Hammer and Kimberly Hefling contributed to this report.

Thoughts on the mid-term election

Conservatives are disappointed but not devastated or disheartened, and you certainly won’t witness a nuclear meltdown by Republicans similar to the one thrown by the unhinged Democrats after the 2000 and 2004 elections. No mass rushing to psychologists for "Post Emection Selection Trauma" treatment, we're not threatening to move to Australia, and unlike Michael Moore in 2004, we're not staying in bed for three days in a catatonic state. By the way, it's also interesting there's a sudden absence of "voter disinfranchisement" and "widespread voter fraud" this time -- the difference? WMD... Whiney Miserable Demented-crats won.

Kerry, Pelosi, Durbin, and Reid will have unfettered access to the podium for the next 2 years; to spew anti American and anti-military rhetoric, coupled with conciliatory practices toward Islamofascists and a fondness for illegal aliens.

Pelosi’s wet dream of ‘investigating’ President Bush over the decision to go to war in Iraq and Afghanistan will succeed like a snowball in hell, but that won’t deter the circus of Democrats from using every available moment to extort visceral hatred and doing as much damage to this country as possible.

This particular crop of Democrats are some of the most mentally and emotionally unstable politicians, ever. Once known as the ‘loyal opposition’, they have morphed into a gang of disloyal collaborators. Their distain for George W. Bush and the war against Islamic despots overrides any possibility of a unified, bi-partisan effort for the defense of the United States.

Domestically, they are elitist poofs who manipulate the unionized working class, the poor, and minorities into believing that in spite of the stark contrast between their lifestyles and their constituents', they really care. (wink, wink)

Now that the children will be running amok in our government and the world stage, we shall see how the “cut and run” strategy, sympathy for terrorists, and lax attitude toward illegals and national security pans out. The upshot is that many socially conservative issues such as tougher illegal immigration laws have passed in several states.

Congratulations to Chavez, Amadinijhad, Bin Laden, the gaggle of European and Canadian radicals, and leftwing Democrats. You received (temporary) advantage, and unfortunately, it will be inflicted on the rest of the country.

The consolation: The moonbats are in the bull’s eye now, and target practice will be a lot of fun.

Demented-crats, They know the way

Time to look at the bright side of democrat victory. Look how great the world will be when they fulfill the promises they have made.

Why just this morning NPR reported EUROPE likes us again because the democrats won. I don’t know about you but that was the most important thing in the whole world. Now we’ll have Europe backing us up and taking care of the tough issues of Iran, North Korea, and worldwide terrorism. What am I thinking. Those won’t exist anymore because now Iran, North Korea, and terrorists will now like us too.

Christopher Reeves will be resurrected and be running marathons soon thanks to democrat research in to embryonic stem cell. Right now Pelosi is passing out microscopes and lab coats to her colleagues.

Fighting between Sunni and Shia will be eliminated with intensive conflict resolution group therapy sessions. Centuries old conflicts are no match for liberal conflict resolution.

NO ONE will have to work ever again. By repealing Bush’s tax cuts and ending the war on terror, federal checks will be guaranteed for all but greedy CEOs. All other expenses will be paid by the money taken from corporate profits now known as a profit tax. Any profit above Pelosi approved margins of say .05% will be redirected to fund the “you can’t do it but democrats can for you” new direction programs.

Global warming will no longer exist. Studies directed and led by Pelosi will discover that thanks to new democrat initiatives global warming is no longer a threat.

The military will be transformed in to the Peace Services led by the newly created department of peace led by Saint Sheehan. Soldiers, sailors Marines, and airmen will be re-educated in intensive conflict resolution (but there won’t be any conflict), baking, recycling sorting, and knitting. Useless arms will be recycled to build bridges across the Rio Grande.

And at long last a final solution will be implemented for the Israel problem. Because of our bewildering constant support of the imperial Zionist regime no one likes us. But with a new direction for America Israel will be swept in to the sea and everyone will love us again.

America’s “Can Do” spirit will be replaced with “It’s Bush’s fault” thus eliminating the uncomfortable condition known as responsibility.

What wonderful programs and initiatives do you see on the horizon.

I just heard that oil is up over a dollar a barrel today. Natural gas is up as well. My guess would be that fear of the democrats destabilizing the mideast even further is causing concern among traders. Onward and wayward.

Pelosi aims to block Democratic hawks from key posts

Rep. Nancy Pelosi plans to sideline colleagues who are hawkish on national security in the Democratic leadership in the House.

Democratic Party sources said as House Speaker, Ms. Pelosi plans to block moves that would place hawks into important chairmanships. The sources said a key casualty would be Rep. Jane Harman, a six-term member of Congress who has cooperated with Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee.

"Nancy Pelosi wants total party discipline," a source in the Democratic Party leadership said. "If you played ball with the Republicans during this session, then you're not going to be given an important chair in the next session."

As the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, Ms. Harman was expected to become chairman of the powerful committee. But Ms. Pelosi is expected to pass over Ms. Harman for either Rep. Alcee Hastings of Florida or Rep. Silvestre Reyes of Texas, the second- and third-ranking Democrats on the intelligence panel.

The 42-member Congressional Black Caucus has been pushing for Mr. Hastings, an impeached federal judge, to become chairman. Earlier this year, the caucus was upset by Ms. Pelosi's decision to expel Rep. William Jefferson from the committee after he was accused of accepting bribes.

"There is no seniority on the Intelligence Committee," Ms. Pelosi said. "The leader or the speaker can appoint a whole new set of people."

The sources said the 61-year-old Ms. Harman, regarded as the best informed House Democrat on intelligence and technology issues, angered the liberal Ms. Pelosi by supporting the Bush administration’s policies on defense issues, particularly the war in Iraq and the Patriot Act. They said Ms. Pelosi has rebuffed lobbyists in the pro-Israel community and defense industry that sought a chairmanship for Ms. Harman.

"If Nancy Pelosi's apparent determination to deny Jane Harman the chairmanship of the House Intelligence Committee to appease the Black Caucus is any indication, Democratic control is not going to be good news for those who believe in competent oversight of the national-security apparatus," said Loren Thompson, a defense analyst at the Lexington Institute.

Ms. Harman, who helped the Democrats draft a national security agenda for the campaign, said she hoped to remain a leading voice on defense issues. She said her California constituents want her to be on the House Intelligence Committee.

"House Intelligence Committee activities are directly relevant to the major concerns of my constituents," Ms. Harman said.

Liberal thuggery at Ball State U.

By Michelle Malkin

What is it about David Horowitz that makes college students so unhinged? Once again, he was physically attacked on his way to give a campus lecture. From the Ball State University student paper in Indiana:

Two people are under arrested after one, clad in a black mask and hooded sweatshirt, attempted to throw a cream pie at David Horowitz, University Police Department Sgt. John Foster said. Police Chief Gene Burton stepped between the two, Foster said.

Later, four students who wished to remain unnamed projected "Horowitz not Welcome" onto the south side of Teachers College.

The attackers were members of Students for a Democratic Society, according to The Horse's Mouth.

The students took their cue from the university's administration, which vocally opposed his presence:

The author and critic spoke adamantly about the lack of diverse opinions at Ball State. He also singled out university President Jo Ann Gora for disapproving of his presence on campus.

"I don't understand why the president of this university would take a hostile attitude toward the students that ask me to come here, "Horowitz said.

He was invited to campus by student conservative groups.

Horowitz claimed students are missing out on key opportunities at Ball State: "Students pay $13,000 to go to this university, and they deserve a professional education, not a political indoctrination," Horowitz said.

Parents of future college students: Scratch Ball State off your list.

Daniel Baldwin Arrested On Suspicion Of Auto Theft

SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- Daniel Baldwin, one of the four acting Baldwin brothers, was arrested on suspicion of auto theft in Santa Monica, his second arrest in the city since April, police said Wednesday.

The owner of a 2003 GMC Yukon had reported it stolen from Orange County to OnStar, which reported the missing sport utility vehicle to Santa Monica police, according to the entertainment news Web site, TMZ.com.

Police found the sport utility vehicle at a Santa Monica motel and saw Baldwin getting inside the vehicle. Officers took Baldwin into custody Tuesday and recovered narcotics and drug paraphernalia from the motel room where he was allegedly staying, according to TMZ.

Baldwin was booked on suspicion of possessing illegal drugs and bail was set at $20,000. He was turned over to Orange County authorities, where the sheriff's department booked him on suspicion of grand theft auto.

Baldwin was arrested in April at another Santa Monica motel after a woman called police, saying he had threatened her. Police said they found cocaine on him. That case is pending.

I wonder if his brother Alec is going to yell at the cops, and tell them that they can't arrest a Baldwin... How dare they!

Sen. Bill Nelson's Son Arrested for Battery

The son of Sen. Bill Nelson was arrested early Wednesday after allegedly pushing an officer in a confrontation hours after he had taken the stage at his father's re-election party.

Charles William Nelson, 30, was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest.

According to a police department report, an officer approached Nelson when he saw a woman slumped on the ground next to him, apparently passed out. The officer said Nelson smelled strongly of alcohol.

The report quoted the younger Nelson as saying the woman, identified as Kimberly Baxter, was fine. It did not say what their relationship was.

Police say Nelson tried to pick her up and drag her away, dropping her when the officer instructed him to put her down. The report said the senator's son attempted to push the officer away, then was pepper-sprayed for two to three seconds and handcuffed.

A police spokeswoman did not immediately return a call seeking additional detail Wednesday.

Nelson lives in Washington and is a Medicaid/Medicare consultant. The senator, a Democrat, issued a statement saying he and his wife didn't know all the facts but "love our son and support him."

In Tuesday's election, the elder Nelson handily rebuffed a challenge from Republican Rep. Katherine Harris, who played a key role in the 2000 presidential election as Florida's secretary of state.

Cannot Understand Normal Thinking

Vox Populi, BlogWonks
By The Rogue Jew

Cannot Understand Normal Thinking! As offensive as this might sound, take the first letter from each of the words on the title of this post and that is who we have as the NEW Majority Leader in the Congress. The Howling Moonbat from San Fran Freako Nancy Pelosi will now be able to Destroy America with the help of her friends.

The Baloney Smoking, Baby Killing, Butt Slamming MINORITY of America now has its leader in Washington and she takes her marching orders from the Gay Mafia.

Hang on to your wallets and your children America, Nancy Pelosi & Co. want them both.

If anything, yesterday was NOT a Mandate for the Democrats, it was a message to the Republicans that they had better go back to their Conservative ways of Less Government, Tougher Immigration Laws, and Fiscal Control. Unfortunately now that the Democrats are in control of America’s Purse Strings, the Economic Recovery that we’ve experienced since the Recession started by the Clinton Presidency will be but a memory.

Higher Taxes because of Democrats refusal to renew President Bush’s Tax cuts and the raising of the Minimum Wage that Democrats have long desired to accomplish will put more people out of jobs and send more businesses out of the country.

The People of Minnesota elected to congress a man that will go on to serve the interest of Islamic Terrorists and the Terror Lobbyist Group CAIR. Osama bin Laden now have a Representative in the United States Congress.

Keith Ellison [aka Keith Hakim, Keith X Ellison and Keith Ellison Muhammad] the DFL candidate for Minnesota’s 5th Congressional district, was elected to the US Congress yesterday.

Under the heading “Crime and Safety” Ellison states that, “I have been to too many funerals of young people to be anything but a strong supporter of law enforcement, but I also believe it must be balanced by other factors.”

Perhaps by “balance” Ellison was referring to his call for the release of Sara Jane Olsen aka Sister Soliah, a member of the urban guerrilla Symbionese Liberation Army [the group which kidnapped Patty Hearst] who had pled guilty to placing bombs underneath two LAPD police cars.

Or maybe it’s Ellison’s support of cop killers Assata Shakur and Mumia Abu-Jamal?

Is Ellison’s committment to “balance” the root of his agreement with Nation of Islam bigot Joanne Jackson’s statement that Jews are, “the most racist white people” or his work with gang-leader Sharif Willis who murdered Minneapolis Police Officer Jerry Haaf?

Balance is really at the heart of the “Keith Mohammed X Ellison” candidacy, since the Minneapolis and national press have studiously avoided any semblance of it, refusing to tell people the honest truth about Mr. Ellison.

If they won’t, we certainly will, try this on for size Mr. Ellison.

Ellison was not only a member of Louis Farrakhan’s rabidly anti-Semitic Nation of Islam, friendly with people who murdered policemen and those who have been engaged in domestic terrorism but he is the choice of the Saudi Wahhabist lobby in his run for Congress and has actively courted groups with Islamist sympathies, with ties to organizations like Hamas and those who believe that the U.S. Constitution should be replaced with Sharia law.

The one word which is glaringly absent from Ellison’s campaign website is “terrorism.”

This should not be surprising since Keith X is being financed and endorsed by a group which aids and abets it; the Council on American Islamic Relations [CAIR], a Saudi funded front group for Hamas which Middle East scholar Daniel Pipes has characterized as “‘moderate’ friends of terror.”

Members of CAIR and some of its officers now reside in jail on terror related charges.
CAIR’s spokesman Ibrahim Hooper supports the abolition of the U.S. Constitution and the imposition of Sharia law. Towards that end, this year alone CAIR received $50 million dollars to launch a nationwide PR campaign for polish the rather tattered reputation of Islam.

With beheadings, honor killings, rapes, riots, terrorism, and it’s overall oppresive nature, trying to “POLISH” the image of Islam is like putting lip stick on a pig…It’s still a PIG!!!

Terrorists Sympathizers and Socialists now have control over our legislature. The War against Islamic Terrorism is now in the hands of those who embrace it!

With the new direction of our government who will now spend less time chasing and killing terrorist and more time chasing Abortion Protestors and killing Christians and Tax Protestors I highly advise that if you have not already gone out and done so, to buy a gun. A Big Freaking Gun! The biggest gun allowed by present law, before the Democrats take that away. Fuck em!

I can’t wait to see how this one plays out!
